About
Kody Rain's love for music started at a very young age. Countless stories of him dancing and singing along to songs in the living room as a child.
At age 13 his dad got him a "Dm2" mixer. It came with all these different sound packs to create your own custom songs. This was his first iteration of beat producing.
A few months after, his dad got him a set of turntables for his birthday, having been inspired by Mr. Hahn of Linkin Park and DJ Qbert he began learning how to scratch.
From ages 14 to 15 he started learning popular beat production software like Fruity Loops and Reason, while also still using the Dm2.
One summer he recorded his first song entitled "The Dead", he used the Dm2 to create the beat and Mixcraft to record the vocals into a cheap usb mic. After uploading the song to Myspace his best friend Korey took interest in music making and together they created a group called "Karnage". Korey came to California and stayed with him the entire summer. They worked on music and created and EP. Hand made some hard copies to give to friends and uploaded the music to Myspace.
As the years went by Kody Rain continued to learn and develop more skills to enhance his music production and style.
Taking inspiration from artists like Linkin Park, The Jokerr, Tech N9ne, Masetti and more. He slowly created a style of his own, mixing singing with rap.
He had other ventures such as creating a group with his friend Jake called "Shadows in Necropolis", creating beats for local artists and even shooting music videos for other artists.
in 2014 going by the stage name "Shifty" he started doing live shows while also working on his debut solo album "Absolution".
Absolution dropped mid 2014.
In 2015 he started working at a Casino as a Audio Visual Technician and worked his way into becoming a Live Sound Engineer. Slowly working on new material he also picked up learning how to play guitar. During this time he decided to rebrand into "Kody Rain". Kody coming from his middle name Cody and Rain coming from his mom Rain. An inspiration from his Native American heritage.
From 2015 to 2020 he slowly worked on more music, shot music videos, worked on his youtube and learned how to play guitar.
His second album "Welcome The Rain" is set to release October 1st 2020. Including live recorded guitar and a switch up on his style of music.
